Ishmael Salifu Wusubru Batanga, a devoted and compassionate Bissa kinsman, has been ordained as the Reverend Minister of the renowned First Baptist Church, Nalerigu, in a momentous ceremony held on October 8th.

It comes after three long years of immersing himself in rigorous theological studies at the prestigious Ghana Baptist University School of Theology and Ministry, where he obtained a Bachelor of Theology degree.

Rev. Batang’s journey towards this honourable position has been a testament to his unwavering faith and perseverance.

The ordination ceremony that took place within the magnificent halls of the First Baptist Church was held in a zekula fashion, as families, congregants, and well-wishers from far and near participated to witness this historic moment.

The atmosphere buzzed with excitement and anticipation as Rev. Batanga stood tall in his ceremonial robes, ready to embrace his new role.

Speaking after the colourful ceremony, Rev. Batanga expressed his heartfelt gratitude to God, his family, and the mentors who guided and supported him throughout his theological training. He emphasised his commitment to leading the flock with humility, love, and a deep understanding of the teachings of Christ.

“With a humble heart of gratitude, I give God the glory for His protection and the grace offered me to join him in transforming lives across religions, ethnicities, and cultures,” he said.

“It is my prayer that God will help me to promote religious tolerance, build peace, and support the most vulnerable in society through faith and development in Christ Jesus.”

The First Baptist Church, known for its vibrant and welcoming community, eagerly embraced its new spiritual leader.

Rev. Batanga’s gentle and patient nature quickly endeared him to the congregation. With a warm smile and an open heart, he embarked on his mission to serve, guide, and inspire the people of Nalerigu.

His impact reaches far beyond the walls of the church. Alongside his religious responsibilities, he also serves as an investigator at Ghana’s Commission on Human Rights and Administrative Justice (CHRAJ). His passion for justice and fairness is reflected not only in his spiritual teachings but also in his commitment to upholding human rights within society.

The dual role of minister and investigator will allow Rev. Batang to advocate for equality and dignity for all. He now has the spiritual backing to passionately tackle cases of injustice, amplifying the voices of the oppressed and marginalised.

His tireless efforts at CHRAJ have garnered respect and admiration, making him a beacon of hope for those seeking justice in Ghana.
