The Bissa Youth Forum has joined the Zekula@ donation chorus, contributing GHS 700 to support Saturday’s celebration in Kulungungu.
The generous contribution from the youth wing of the Bissa Development Authority (BDA) adds to the growing list of organizations and individuals rallying behind this annual cultural event.
The Zekula@ celebration, organized by the BDA, is a cherished tradition that brings together the Bissa community from across Ghana and beyond to celebrate their rich heritage and promote unity.
This year’s festivities promise to be even more vibrant, thanks to the overwhelming support received from various quarters.
The amount was transferred to the official Mobile Money number being used for the crowdfunding on the early hours of Saturday.
“An amount of GHS 700 has been transferred to the mobile money account for the Zekula@ contribution,” said Abdul Malik, the coordinator of the Bissa Youth Forum, who doubles as the deputy secretary of the BDA.
“As the youth wing of the BDA, it is our responsibility to preserve and promote our cultural identity while creating opportunities for economic empowerment. We are thrilled to contribute to this year’s Zekula@ celebration.”
Though the youngest organ of the BDA, it represents the future of the Association. Their active participation and commitment to upholding Bissa traditions ensure that the community’s cultural legacy is passed down to future generations.
The Youth Forum, though existed in the BDA constitution for years, was given an actual physical inauguration by the Gutare Zanni administration on August 12, 2023.
This formal recognition has empowered the youth to actively participate in decision-making processes and contribute to the development of the Bissa community.
The Zekula@ festival at Kulungungu is a veritable melting pot of traditions, music, dance, and culinary delights. Vendors from across the region flock to the event, setting up stalls brimming with an array of delectable local delicacies and handcrafted souvenirs, providing a platform for entrepreneurship and economic growth.
For the youth, the festival offers a unique opportunity to showcase their talents and embrace their roots. Young artisans display their intricate weavings, pottery, and woodcarvings, while aspiring musicians and dancers take to the stage, captivating audiences with their vibrant performances.
The donation from the forum will play a crucial role in ensuring the success of the event. It will contribute to funding preparations, including the erecting of canopies, the hiring of security personnel, and the organization of various cultural activities and competitions.
The youth, buoyed by their contribution and newfound recognition, eagerly anticipate the festivities, celebrating not only their rich heritage but also their commitment to shaping a brighter future for the Bissa people.
