The Yambone Yunnor Lebadinni Association (YYLA) held a special Quranic recitation on Sunday in the Ashanti Regional Bissa Palace, invoking God’s blessings of peace, unity, and prosperity for the Bissa Fraternity and the country as a whole.

Over a hundred members of the Yambone family from across the country attended the event, which was held under the auspices of Chir Osman Salifu Tanko Yambone, the Ashanti Regional Bissa Chief.

Led by the regional Chief Imam of Bissa Alhaji Osman, they recited the Holy Quran from cover to cover three times, slaughtered a bull as a sacrifice to Allah for his blessings of peace and wellbeing for all, and sought forgiveness for the souls of those who have passed on to eternity.

Addressing the gathering, Chir Tanko Yambone commended members for their intercession for Allah’s blessing and paid a glowing tribute to the Bissa leadership for their contribution to the development of the fraternity.

He expressed worry over the current situation in Bawku, where a conflict between Kusasis and Mamprusis has led to a slow pace of development in the Upper East.

He also urged the youth to stay away from bad habits such as smoking, laziness, and armed robbery, which hinder their progress.

He underscored the significance of the Holy Quran and urged Bissa Muslims to learn and practice the teachings of the Quran as a guide for mankind.

Chir Tanko also prayed for succes for every member of the Bissa across the world and prayed to God to bring lasting peace to Bawku.

The special prayer event has been an annual affair for the YYLA, and according to the Secretary of the organizing committee, Alhassan Yembone, they “expect other members to join the association to build a stronger bond.”

“It has become necessary to hold such programs as a way to keep ties with one another as the family keeps expanding,” he told Bissa News Online.

“We are therefore calling on all other Yambones to join the association to contribute our quota to the development of Bissa.”

It was a day of prayers, a moment of merriment, and a colorful scene of fraternizing as members exchanged pleasantries with one another after the event.

It also created a platform for members of the Yambone clan to familiarize themselves with one another, with a call to ensure they remain united as one people.

An appeal for funds was also launched towards the organization of a similar event next year.
