The Medical Director at Kojach Health Center Dr Yakubu Tobor Yusuf Gorga has been honoured by the National Health Student Association of Ghana (NHASAG), receiving an overwhelming appreciation for his “unflinching support”.
It comes after years of serving the association in various capacities, with the latest being a Chairman of Vetting Committee under the 2022/23 administration.
And in acknowledgement of his “genuine and invaluable support” to the NAHSAG, the 2021/22 administration presented a citation on the young Physician, who served as president of the between 2010 and 2011.
“This is to acknowledge your genuine and invaluable support to the NAHSAG 2021/22 administration,” the citation read.
“You have distinguished yourself as a helpful and supportive Alumni. You directed our steps and guided our paths. You were always available when the association needed you most.
“You committed your unflinching support towards us at all times. Serving us as our vetting Committee Chairperson without hesitation. We appreciate you efforts.
“Today as we bring our service to an end, we want to express our sincerest appreciation to you for all your hard work. Together, NAHSAG says May the Lord bless you.”
The NAHSAG is a representative body made up of all health students and fresh graduates from the various health training institutions and universities across the length and breadth of Ghana.
Doctor Yakubu Tobor Yusuf Gorga, the Special Duty Officer on Human Resources for the Bissa Development Association (BDA), has been a member of the NAHSAG since his student days at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST).
He contested and won the presidential position in 2011 and has since remained an active and dedicated member, contributing in diverse ways to make the association one of the most vibrant among the representative bodies for students.
He has been at the forefront of student activism and a vibrant practitioner in whatever capacity he has served across all spheres of life.
The latest honor from NAHSAG adds to the many accolades he has received across his academic and professional fields.
HISTORY AND COMPOSITION
The National Health Students Association of Ghana (NAHSAG) is a national representative body made up of all Health students and fresh graduates in and from the various Health Training Institutions and Universities across the length and breadth of Ghana.
The association was established in the year 2005 with registration done precisely on the 1st of August, 2005. NAHSAG was led by an interim team headed by Dr.Ayew Afriyie, currently with the Alliance for Accountable Government (AFAG) from inception for a period of 20 months before handing over in April, 2007 to a nationally elected executive body.
It has since been in force towards promoting the welfare of all health students in and of Ghana. NAHSAG currently includes health students in both public and private health training institutions and foreign affiliates, Ghanaians reading health programs in other countries.
OUR MISSION
Our mission is to offer future Health Professionals in Ghana, a comprehensive introduction to national health issues and empower health students, by using their knowledge and other capabilities whiles in school for the benefits of society.
AIMS AND OBJECTIVES
The aims and objectives of NAHSAG includes but not limited to:
Providing an opportunity and to serve as a platform to involve the youth in decision making, as well as the implementation process
To inculcate the spirit of togetherness among the future Health Service personnel, even while they are students.
To create a means of channeling the collective views of all health students and to give them a unified voice in society.
To ensure that this group harmonizes the activities of the individual groups.
To create public awareness, so that the public sees the relevant of the various health programs.
To undertake public health related projects.
To foster cooperation with international organizations on scientific and educational programmes.
