Two Bissas have had their name written in the history books in Ghana football following their big contributions to acxray Hearts of Oak’s success winning the 2020/21 Ghana Premier League on Sunday.
Mohammed Alhassan, a Tarnagda, and Abdul Aziz Nurudeen, a Bandaogo, played diverse roles to win Hearts of their first league title in 12 years.
Whiles Abdul Aziz, a midfielder, has been missing in action due to injury, Mohammed Alhassan, on the other hand, has featured in almost all the matches the team played in season.
He was at the helm of the team’s defensive set up when they clinched the all important draw against Liberty at the Accra Sports Stadium to secure their 21st league title with a match to spare.
The Tarnagda man has been tough, smart, energetic and tactical to ensure the Phobians concede less or none at all anytime he is called to duty.
But it is the Bandaogo man, who has seen less action since his groin injury in the first half of the league.
He has begun some light training since last month and is expected to make a big come back at the beginning of next season when there will be more competition for the team.
However, the two will be decorated with medals on Sunday as the team play as guest of WAFA at the Sogakope, to climax their victory 2020/21 victory.
Alhassan Tarnagda and Nurudeen Bandaogo now join the list of Bissas such as RTU legend Sumani Musa, Kotoko legend Yahaya Kassum, Ibrahim Tanko, Mohammed Gargo, Sadat Karim, Rashid Sumaila, Seidu Bancy, the Nuhu brothers of New Edubiase United and many others, who have made names in the annals of Ghana football.
The Phobians now top the League with 4 points, which is enough to get them declared as Champions of the season.
By winning the league, Hearts of Oak have booked their place in next season’s CAF Champions League contest.
The team is also slated to participate in the maiden West African Challenge Cup to be played in Benin next month.
Congratulations
