The sale of specially designed clothing and T-shirts has shot up as the Ashanti Sukuma 2022 festivals near, organizers have said.

The Ashanti Regional Bissa Development Association (BDA) unveiled the ceremonial apparel for the upcoming festival, slated for December 26, urging kinsmen and women to appear at the program in a colorful

The cloth, which is designed with the Zekula logo, was endorsed as the organizers sought to make the maiden event memorable.

A yard for the ceremonial cloth goes for GHS 25.

And with exactly 10 days until the event, sales have been “overwhelming” following the euphoria around the event.

“We have a few days to go, and so the sales of both the cloth and the T-shirt are encouraging,” said Zakari Ayaaba Seone, who is the Ashanti regional BDA.

“We came with this outfit for the event since the lasting effect of clothing on human memory cannot be underestimated.”

“This is because of the tremendous blessings it brings to the individual who buys them, and, I must say, the response has been overwhelming.”

According to Seone, who doubles as the secretary of the Ashanti Regional Council of Bissa Chiefs, wearing the apparel will help the Bissas to always have a sense of belonging that helps them feel fulfilled as a proud part of the fraternity.

The Sukuma was postponed from December 18 to Boxing Day, December 26, to give enough time for preparation amid the Christmas festivities and the NDC primaries.

The specially-designed T shirt goes GHS 50.

Thousands are expecting to participate in the regional festival, which will serve as an opportunity for Bissas to showcase their culture.

The establishment of the Sukuma festival is a move by the Ashanti Region Council of Bissa Chiefs, the Ashanti BDA, and other splinter associations to unite under one umbrella in building a stronger fraternity for development.

The one-day event to be held at Jubilee park in Kumasi will be the the first of its kind.

It is in line with the Bissa Development Association’s directive for all regions to celebrate the Sokuma, as the bigger Zekula Festival is solely left for the traditional capital of Kulungungu.

Members who are interested in buying the cloth are to call phone number 0248511225 or 0200950666.
