Ghana defender Rashid Sumaila has returned some act of kindness to former Ebusua Dwarfs, donating some assorted items to his Alma mater as the preparation for the upcoming season gathers momentum.
The donation to the players and technical team of the Mysterious club was done at their training grounds in Cape Coast.
Bottles of mineral water, energy drinks and other items were handed over to the officials of the club, urging them on to make a great impact in the upcoming league season.
The 27-year-old believes it was about time he gave back to the very club that brought him to fame.
Presenting the items, the 2012/13 Ghana Premier League Best Defender expressed hopes that his “good intention” can serve as morale booster for the 1966 league winners.
“ This is the club I once played for, I feel and believe it will be of good intention and motive to give these items to the boys and technical team in order to boost their confidence in the upcoming 2020/2021 Premier League Season,” he said
Sumaila moved from Ebusua Dwarfs to Asante Kotoko in the 2013/14 season, winning the league with Kumasi based club.
He recently completed a five year stay in Kuwait and is available on a free transfer after the expiration of his contract with Kuwaiti top-flight side Al Qadsia SC
Receiving the Items on behalf of the team, Dennis Korsah Captain of the Ebusua Dwarfs, thanked Rashid Sumaila for the kind gesture and pledged the team’s commitment to do their very best in bringing glory to the club and supporters.
Ebusua Dwarfs will begin their 2020/2021 season with a Fante-derby clash against Elmina Sharks on Sunday November 15, 2020
Sumaila joined Al Qadsia SC in 2014 from Mamelodi Sundowns after helping them to win the Premier Soccer League.
In between that, he had two loan spells with Qatari side Al Gharafa (2016/2017) and Serbian giants Red Star Belgrade (2017/2018) in Serbia.
The 27-year-old won three trophies with Qadsia and was also a league winner in Serbia despite making three appearances.
