The Bissa Development Association (BDA) has, on the occasion of the holy month of Ramadan, extended it’s greetings to Muslims, wishing them “blessings of mercy, forgiveness and freedom from hell fire”.
In a statement issued on Sunday, the leadership of the Bissa fraternity urged Muslims to forgive one another in search for peace across the world.
“As we embark on this journey to fulfill our obligations towards Allah this special month, may we receive the blessings of mercy, forgiveness and freedom from hell fire,” read the statement signed by it’s Chairman Alhaji Shaibu Musah Gutare Zanni.
Ramadan is the ninth month of the Islamic calendar. The exact dates of Ramadan change every year. This is because Islam uses a calendar based on the cycles of the Moon.
In 2022 majority of Ghanaians began their Fasting at Sunday dawn while Saudi Arabia began hers on Saturday.
Most Muslims fast between dawn and sunset. Fasting allows Muslims to devote themselves to their faith. It is thought to teach self-discipline and reminds them of the suffering of the poor. However, children, pregnant women, elderly people and those who are ill or travelling don’t have to fast.
During Ramadan, it is common to have one meal (known as the suhoor), just before dawn and another (known as the iftar), directly after sunset.
The month markes a period which almost all Muslims try to give up bad habits. It is a time for prayer and good deeds. They will try to spend time with family and friends and help people in need.
Many Muslims try to read the whole of the Qur’an at least once during Ramadan. They will also attend special services in Mosques during which the Qur’an is read.
Below is the full statement
“O believers, fasting is prescribed to you as it was prescribed to those before you. So that you may become righteous.” – Surah Al-Baqarah 2:183
Fellow Brothers and Sisters of the Islamic faith, the Holy month of Ramadan is here with us once again. It is the ninth month on the Islamic Calendar. The month that Allah chose to reveal the Holy Qur’an through His servant and messenger, Prophet Mohammed (PBUH). It is also the month that Allah chose to prescribe fasting to believers as quoted above.
As we embark on this journey to fulfill our obligations towards Allah this special month, may we receive the blessings of mercy, forgiveness and freedom from hell fire.
While we ask for countless blessings from Allah, let’s endeavor to unlock these blessings through forgiveness to one another and support for our vulnerable ones in our families and communities.
We wish all Bissa Muslims and Muslims around the world,
RAMADAN KAREEM ☪️
