The National Bissa Youth Forum is to be formally launched on August 12, the Bissa Development Association (BDA) has announced.
It follows a thorough discussion and consultation between the National Executive Committee and some Bissa Youth who have pledged their readiness to work toward the realization of the BDA dream.
The launch of the Bissa Youth Forum will be a significant milestone for the Gutare administration, as it fulfills the list of structures needed for the complete set-up of the BDA.
Marking August 12th as the launch date for the Bissa Youth Forum adds even more anticipation and excitement to the event as the day is celebrated as the International Youth Day.
The Bissa Youth Forum represents an excellent idea to empower and engage the youth within the Bissa community, and it came out of a “bold decision,” the NEC has said.
“I’m excited to see a bold decision made now to have the Youth Forum in place, which fulfills the structures and will inspire and empower the youth to make a positive impact on our Zekula mission,” BDA Chairman Shaibu Musah Gutare Zanni said.
“This forum will provide a platform for young people to come together, exchange ideas, and address important issues affecting their lives.
“It will be a valuable opportunity for them to develop leadership skills, foster a sense of belonging, and contribute to the development and progress of their community.
“With a specific date in mind, I will urge the numerous Bissa Youth to prepare to ensure we have a successful and impactful launch.”
The Youth forum comes after the successful establishment of the Women’s wing in November last year, joining the Council of Elders and the Bissa Study Group in the formation of a formidable and holistic BDA, which is the developmental wing of the Bissa Ethnic group.
Along with the existing structures, the Forum will create a strong foundation for progress and prosperity, which is one of the strategic goals of the association.
When launched, the Bissa Youth Forum will establish connections with Bissa student groups on various campuses in order to create a cohesive and robust youth community.
This initiative will provide a platform for Bissa students to engage, exchange ideas, and collectively work towards common goals, which will endeavor to strengthen the voice and representation of Bissa youth across campuses and communities.
The Choice of August 12 and its significance
According to the NEC, the choice of August 12 is unique, and it demonstrates the Association’s commitment to recognizing and empowering young individuals within the Bissa community as the date aligns with the significance of International Youth Day.
“International Youth Day, celebrated annually on August 12, serves as a global observance to promote the role of youth in society, raise awareness about their challenges, and encourage their active participation in decision-making processes and The BDA’s decision to launch on this day reflects its dedication to harnessing the potential of youth, providing them with a platform to voice their opinions, and fostering their active engagement in shaping their own future,” the Chairman said.
The Youth Forum will have its own interim executive committee to stir up affairs at the grassroot level for a certain period, after which an election will be held to choose outright leaders for the youth, the NEC has said.
