Muniratu Moro Bandoago has been buried at the Madina Muslim Cemetery in a ceremony attended by hundreds, bringing an end to a long wait.

Friday’s burial comes 33 days after the Customs officer died aged 32 at her matrimonial home in Abeka.

Her Islamic funeral services, led by the National Chief Imam at the National Mosque at Kanda, drew Muslim clerics, politicians, chiefs, and Queenmothers from across the city.

After days of lying in the morgue, the body of the late Munira made its final journey to Madina Cemetery amid an outpouring of grief.

The Janaaiza was held after the Juma prayers let by the National Chief Imam Sheikh Osmanu Nuhu Sharubutu

The body, from the Police Hospital morgue, travelled first to the Kanda National Mosque, where Imam  Sheikh Osmanu Nuhu Sharubutu led the “Janaaiza” in front of a congregation, and then to Madina for an Islamic burial.

It was a sombre moment throughout the ceremony as the bereaved family was joined by the rest of the Muslims in escorting the dead.

An emotional-filled atmosphere greeted the scene as the body was carried in an ambulance through the streets of Kanda to Madina.

Friday, October 7th capped a series of postponements in a long wait filled with anger,  emotions, suspicions, and castigations as many remain heartbroken over the circumstances surrounding her death.

Muniratu was allegedly murdered at her matrimonial home in Abeka on September 6th, just 9 days after getting married as a second wife.

She is reported to have been found dead with multiple stab wounds and a cut on her throat.

The Bandaogo lady’s burial had to be delayed to allow a thorough investigation to be carried out.

Her death has caused a public uproar, and the call for justice is at its loudest across the Zongo communities, a situation that precipitated her early burial being blocked.

A legal case has already been opened in court with her husband and the first wife being kept in custody.
