Accra Hearts of Oak defender Mohammed Alhassan is in stable condition after collapsing on the pitch at full time in their 0-0 drawn game with Legon Cities, the club has reported.
The deputy skipper of the Phobians was rushed to the hospital after suddenly collapsed at the Accra Sports Stadium where they engaged Cities in their league opener.
He was first sent to National Sports Council clinic at the stadium before being carried by ambulance to the 37 Military hospital.
Reports indicate Mohammed, who has been the most consistent player in Samuel Boadu’s squad will be off for two weeks.
The experienced center-back was hit with an elbow in an on-the-ball tussle with Legon Cities player and was treated and returned to the pitch.
But the 29-year-old, who lasted for the entire duration of the game was seen lying motionless immediately after the final whistle was blown and as his teammates quickly rushed to the scene.
They signalled the medics at the Accra Sports Stadium who rushed and took the former West African Football Academy SC centre-back to the hospital for an immediate treatment.
He has been discharged from the 37 Military after gaining consciousness but has been given days off.
Mohammed joined the Phobians from WAFA in the 2018/19 season and has risen to become one of the most trusted feet in the hands of all the coaches who have handled the Phobians within the period.
