Deputy Hearts of Oak Skipper Mohammed Alhassan (Tarnageda) made history for himself on Sunday after scoring his maidne goal for Ghana as was Ghana the Black Galaxies beat Benin 3-0 in their 2023 CHAN qualifier played at the Cape Coast Stadium.
The defender stroke from a rebound to give Ghana a 2-0 lead after teammate Daniel Afriyie Barnieh had scored the first through the spot on the 25th minutes.
A corner kick from Kotoko’s Imoro Ibrahim was headed out but it was the Bissa man who was at the right spot at the right time to hit it straight into the net.
It was his first ever goal in national colours as the Black Galaxies grabbed a huge advantage ahead of the return encounter in Benin.
Ghana needed the cushioning after the first half had ended with a goal advantage and the Hearts of Oak central defender ensured his name got into the record books as one of three scorers from the same club side.
Coach Annor Walker had given starting roles to Alhassan alongside Goalkeeper Danladi Ibrahim, Imoro Ibrahim and Suraj Seidu and Razak Kassim.
The Tarnageda man has been in tremendous form since joining Hearts of Oak in 2018.
He has been linked with a team in Iraq but Hearts of Oak are yet to give an official statement on his future.
