Shaibu Musah Gutare Zanni, Esq. has been sworn in for a second term as chairman of the Bisaa Development Association (BDA), following his uncontested re-election last month.
The oath-taking ceremony, held at Afrikiko restaurant in Accra, marked the beginning of his new tenure leading the National Executive Committee (NEC) until 2027.
He was joined by Mr Ali Bawure, officer in charge of culture, Magaajia Khadijah Ali Dabonni, responsible for Women and Children’s affairs, and newly elected deputy organiser Ali Ibrahim Issaka Yemboni for the solemn occasion, pledging to lead with truth and honesty for the benefit of Bissa.
In his acceptance speech, Mr Gutare urged further growth, saying the NEC is ready to support every region to have its branches and zones.
“I call upon Bissas in all the regions to get themselves well organised, and we will support them to establish their zonal branches. Local development is crucial for our community’s progress,” he said.
“The Zonal branches are the bedrock of our association. They allow us to address local needs effectively while contributing to our broader national objectives.”
During his first term, Mr Gutare, backed by six robust strategic goals he designed, oversaw significant expansion of the BDA, including the establishment of regional and zonal branches across Ghana, particularly in Greater Accra, Ashanti, Brong Ahafo and the three northern regions.
He also supervised the creation of the Sukuma Festival as a regional celebration, observed in various parts of the country alongside the exclusive Zekula festival in Kulungungu.
A key achievement was correcting the misnomer by the National Identification Authority, which had been using “Busanga” instead of the accepted name “Bissa”.
Other accomplishments include adopting the Bissa Tutorial Hub as a BDA project and funding extra classes for final-year Bissa students at Bawku Secondary School.
He therefore thanked the outgoing executives who supported in laying a “strong foundation”.
“Your dedication and hard work over the past three years have been instrumental in our achievements,” he stated
“Together, we’ve laid a strong foundation for the BDA’s future. I’m grateful for your service and the legacy you leave behind.”
He further called on the new team members to commit themselves to the task to ensure the association achieves its goals as he expressed gratitude for his re-election.
“I am deeply humbled by your faith in my leadership.
This renewed mandate energises me to work even harder for our community’s development. Our Challenges ahead include strengthening the association and improving its financial standing.”
Saturday’s ceremony was attended by the Lemagan, Dominic Sori Payida, and his council members, including Dr Adam Musa Tarnageda, Mr Moro, Mr Sumani Musah Yemboni, and Hajia Fati Yallah Esq. A Representative from the BDA electoral committee were also present.
The BDA, representing the Bissa community in Ghana, will maintain its 13-member NEC structure, blending experienced members with new faces to foster continued development and unity among its members.
