Legal practitioner and Assistant Commissioner of Ghana Immigration Service, Hajia Fati Ali-Yallah, Esq., signed the Book of Condolence on Wednesday to pay tribute to the former Minister of Youth and Sports, Dr. Mustapha Ahmed.

Lawyer Fati was among the latest prominent figures to sign the Book of Condolence at the former home of the late Dr. Ahmed during a traditional 7th-day Islamic prayer ceremony held for him.
Dr. Ahmed passed away on February 8th in India at age 61 while seeking medical treatment. His death concludes a distinguished public service career that included serving as Sports Minister in the 2000s as well as being elected Member of Parliament twice to represent Accra’s Ayawaso constituency.

As tributes pour in, Lawyer Fati, joined other dignitaries to offer condolences and comfort Dr. Ahmed’s bereaved family at the prayer service marking one week since his demise.

Prominent individuals like Naa Dr. Alhassan Andani and ordinary citizens across Ghana have publicly mourned Dr. Ahmed’s passing alongside Members of Parliament.

Lawyer Fati, a long-standing member of the Bissa Development Association (BDA), conveyed heartfelt sympathies to Dr. Ahmed’s brother on behalf of the grieving family.

Her sincere condolences joined those already expressed by government officials, MPs, traditional leaders, and thousands of Ghanaians.

Before entering politics, Dr. Ahmed worked as a dentist in the Ghana Army, attaining the rank of Major. He first ventured into public office by winning the Ayawaso East parliamentary seat in the December 2000 elections, entering parliament in January 2001.
Dr. Ahmed continued representing Ayawaso East until 2013, when he was elected MP for the newly created Ayawaso North constituency following a delimitation exercise by the electoral commission.
Since he entered politics in 2000, Dr. Ahmed cultivated a passionate following during his long stint as an MP and through his high-ranking ministerial roles.
Ghanaians will continue honouring Dr. Ahmed in the coming days leading up to his funeral scheduled for March. By adding her condolences, Assistant Commissioner Fati paid respect to his impactful career as both an elected official and a cabinet member dedicated to public service.
The late MP and former minister leaves behind his wife and children.
