A first-year student of the Ghana Telecom University College (GTUC), Mustapha Latifa Sangou, visited the Bortianor/Weija Bissa palace on Monday to present her double awards to Kir Suallah Saeed Sare for supporting her bid in winning the contest organized by her school.
It comes just two days after picking up both the “Best Student Influencer” and “Best Sportswoman” awards at the 2022 Association of Computing Students (ACS) Awards and Dinner held in Accra.
She won by a majority of votes, having received massive support from Kir Sare and the general Bissa fraternity, becoming the first ever female to be named the “Best Student Influencer.”
At a brief presentation ceremony held at the New Bortianor/Weija palace, the young lady expressed huge appreciation to the Chief, who led a campaign for votes that culminated in her triumphant award-winning story.
“I consider myself lucky to have you with me, and I am almost incapable of finding the right words to convey my appreciation to you,” she said.
“It is an honor to have received these prizes just in my first attempt, but the biggest honors go to you and my fellow Bissas, whose votes enabled me to clinch the double.”
In a response, Kir Sualla Saeed Sare urged her to work and study hard to achieve her aim in order to bring huge dividends to all the huge investment she has made in her academic pursuit.
“This accomplishment is a significant milestone in your academic life, but it should just serve as the beginning of fighting harder in all your endeavors,” Kir said.
“We are only in a leadership position to support the youth in achieving their goal of becoming more than us.”
“We want to see more BISA students make it to the top, and we are always ready to help each and everyone who takes a positive step.”
Latifa, a multitalented young girl, began a four-year degree program in IT at the GTUC late last year as a move to climb higher in her academic ladder.
It was her first time participating in the all-student contest, which is held annually by the Association of Computing Students (ACS) to acknowledge the valuable contribution by computing students towards national development.
