The Bissa Chief of Weija and New Bortianor, Kir Sualla Saeed Sari, has donated some learning materials to the Khalidiya Islamiya Islamic School in Mamobi, Accra, urging students to take their studies seriously.
It comes just a few days after entering the holy month of Ramadan, in which good deeds are maximized by devoted Muslims.
A total of 150 Quranic booklets (Juz Amma) were distributed to the students, along with 12 long mats and a full Quran.
The donation is part of a concerted effort by the chief to ensure Muslim students and schools get the needed materials to develop.
It was done by a team on behalf of the chief, who was on another important mission.
After handing over the items to the school, the leader of the team, Imam Yakubu Sambare, said it was Kir’s hope the students would take their Quranic education seriously.
He said the aim of the donation was to help and support children to have access to quality Islamic education and to demonstrate love and provide comfort to children of the less privileged in all parts of the country.
He also commended the founder of the school,Sheikh Khalid, and the management of the school for their commitment towards ensuring their children received a free and qualitative education.
The imam further said the school is promoting unity and love as it shows no difference among the students, irrespective of their ethical backgrounds, despite being dominated by Bissa children.
After receiving the materials, the principal of the school, Abdul Aziz Khalid, thanked Kir Sare for the gesture, which he said “would improve learning in the school.”
“We are trying our best to give qualitative and comprehensive Islamic education to children of less privilege in our small way.”
“Therefore, the learning materials provided by Kir will motivate and transform the children’s attitude towards acquiring Quranic knowledge.”
He said the school has been yearning for such supports and called on well-spirited individuals and organizations to emulate Kir’s benevolence by showing love and kindness to all children, especially those from the less privileged background in the country.
Sheik Khalid noted that the materials distributed to them would be used judiciously for the overall development of their education and society at large.
The special Ramadan donation by the Chief has become an annual affair since his assumption of the seat of leadership in New Weija and New Bortianor.
It forms part of his special initiative towards the growth of Islamic schools across the region, of which the Khalidiya Islamiya is one of the targeted institutions to be developed.
He carried out a similar exercise last year across the region, where more than six schools received various learning materials.
