The Ali Dabre Palace and the Bissa fraternity on Saturday celebrated the 10th anniversary of Chief Mohamed Ali Dabre III’s Coronation as the Bissa Chief of the Greater Accra region.

Members of the Dabri family, Chiefs of other tribes, government officials, diplomats and other dignitaries gathered at the Kawokudi Park for a colourful Durbar to mark a decade of exemplary leadership to the Bissa people.

Things got off to a blessed start as the regional Chief Imam, Hassan Nombre, opened the event with Quran recitation in seeking God’s guidance and praying for more success.

Poetries were recited, family appellations reechoed mellifluously and groundnut beads rattled on dancing feets in his honour as men and women in their thousands hailed the debonair lecturer, who came to power in October 2010.

The Chief was accompanied by more than 100 of members of his family, including the Bissa Chief of Bawku Amadu Haruna Dabre, who had arrived in the nation’s capital 24 hours before the program.

Prior to the event, Chief Dabre III had paid a commisuration visit to the Ridge residence of late Ghanaian president Rawlings, who died earlier this month.

He had also released a peace message to Bissas and Ghanaians at large as the country heads to the polls on December 7th.

But much of it was seen on Saturday when he presided over a great program that created an atmosphere of unity among ethnic groups and people from all political divides.

The day was also used to officially inaugurate a 24 member cabinet, comprising 12 males and 12 females, who will support him to run affairs in a new dawn of Bissa influence.

The event themed: “Securing peace before, during and after the 2020 election; the role of Zongo Chiefs” also saw the presence of some political party representatives as the country heads to the polls on December 7th.

It was a day marked with pomp and merry as the Chief got mobbed by his people, majority of whom were clad in specialised anniversary cloth.

The day saw live performances of both traditional and contemporary Bissa music as headline performances from Hajia Sa-ada Muhammed, known on stage as Hajia Police, and Miss Aisha Abdul Malik known by the stage as Queenzy Baby, brought their talents to bare to the crowd’s enthusiastic support as the big men went rapt in a deafening moments of knees-up.

It came as one of the most important events to be commemorated by Bissas in the year 2020, having achieved great feats under the much coveted “Zekula” umbrella.

Kir Mohamed Ali Dabre III, a celebrated lecturer, ascended to the throne on 30th October after the demise of his elder brother, Osman Ali Dabre II.

His leadership style has been hailed by many for being a focal point that saw the expansion and influence of the Bissa fraternity across the country.
