Former Sports Minister Dr Mustapha Ahmed on Wednesday led a six-member delegation in a visit to some bereaved families within the Bissa fraternity in the Greater Accra, expressing his condolences for their losses.
The team, with a representation of chiefs, Imams and other association leaders, backed the former Ayawaso North MP to embark on the commiseration visit to five separate families, who lost their loved ones amid the covid-19 scare.
Hajia Ramatu,Chief Moro Yorda of Ayawaso, Mr Ibrahim Wuntah, Chief of Fadama Alhaji Alhassan Zeba and two of the childrens of Bissa Chief of Alajo Kir Yakubu Zale, all died in the absence of Dr Ahmad, who was on a bussiness trip to the United States and got locked down due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
With the delay in flights and closure of borders for precautionary reasons, the Honourable member could not participate in any of the funeral activities held for these fallen heroes.
He however took his turn with a special commiseration visit on Wednesday 12th August, as a moral duty and also a move to consolidate the peace and unity that exist among Bissas.
The delegation was made of up of Honourable Mustapha Ahmed, the regional Chief Bissa Imam Mallam Hassan Osmanu Nombre , Kir Abdul Razak Ummar Bambara of Darkuman, the Bissa protocol officer Alhaji Isaaka Nombre (Alhaji weapon) , Mamud Youssif Banse and Baba Yahya,who is a special assistance to Dr Mustapha Ahmed.
The commiseration mission was heralded by a courtesy call on Chief Mohammed Ali Dabre III, president of Greater Accra Council of Bissa chiefs, making the day one of the busiest.
They began their visit at the residence of Mr Ibrahim Wunta, who died in June, and proceeded to the residence of Chief Moro Yorda Mamobi, who died on Wednesday 20th May 2020.
They later moved to Shukura to visit Honourable Halidu Haruna Zoure, who now remains a widower following the demise of his wife,
The delegation completed its moral task of the day with a visit to the Fadama residence of the late Kir Adamu Alhassan Zeba, after a visit to the Bissa Chief of Alajo.
Three Chiefs, an astute business man and a woman, were among the members, big losses recorded by the Bissas in the past months.
Expressing his condolences with, Dr Ahmed urged all the bereaved families to remain strong in this trial moment.
“I will urge each and everyone to be strong anything that happened its the work of God,” he said.
“In situations like these we bang hopes in Allah, who alone remains our helper.”
The Bissa fraternity in late May was dealt double blows with the death of Chief Moro Yorda of Ayawaso North, who died on Wednesday 20th May 2020, followed by that of Hajia Ramatu, who was the wife of Alhaji Alidu, who is a former presidential staffer and a former NDC Parliamentary candidate for Ablekuma Central Constituency.
Hajia Ramatu death came at a time Muslims in the country were observing the annual fasting in Ramadan, with approximately ten days left to complete.
Just when Bissas were counting their loses, death struck again on business man Ibrahim Wuntah on the 21st June, followed in July with the demise of two female childrens of Chief Alajo and Kir Adamu Alhassan Zeba, whose funeral comes off on the 22nd of August.
Honourable Ahmed also assured the bereaved family the late Kir Adamu Alhassan Zeba that he will be with them during the 40th day A’dua.
In his speech, he called on all Bissas to stay away from trouble in this election year
