President Akufo-Addo’s nominee for the Pusiga District, Hon. Zubeiru Abdulai Sarane has been confirmed as District Chief Executive by assembly members, securing a second term in office.
Honourable Sarane polled 15 votes, representing 68% against the 7 that voted against his nomination.
The Kulungungu District Assembly has 22 assembly members, and all members were present at the confirmation ceremony held at the district assembly hall.
Hon Sarane in a victory speech expressed delight over his election, and thanked the President for reposing confidence in him and re-nominating him.
He also thanked the assembly members for confirming his nomination.
“I am overwhelmed and let me say a big thank you to each and everyone,” he said.
“Though it has not been a difficult battle, it indicates confidence, hope and that is what has brought me this victory.”
He assured the people of Pusiga that he would work hard to address the challenges in the district.
“I want to assure the people of Pusiga that I will continue with my hard work to ensure that the challenges are fixed. ”
The Pusiga District is one of the 260 Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies (MMDAs) in Ghana, and forms part of the fifteen (15) Municipalities and Districts in the Upper East Region.
It was carved out of the then Bawku Municipality in 2012 by Legislative Instrument, LI 2145 with its administrative capital in Pusiga.
The District shares boundaries with Burkina-Faso to the north, Republic of Togo to the east, Bawku Municipality to the west and Garu District to the south.
