Hama Bansi, a determined young Bissa woman from Kulungungu in the Upper East region, is making a spirited second attempt to enter the prestigious TV3 Ghana Most Beautiful (GMB) Contest.
After a narrow miss in last year’s preliminary stage, Bansi has fought her way back to the final two contestants vying to represent the Upper East region.
The final year student of Kessben Media College in the Ashanti region is now seeking public support through votes as she prepares for a crucial on-stage performance this Sunday.
The outcome of this performance, combined with the votes received, will determine whether she secures a spot among the final 16 contestants for the months-long weekly competition.
Reflecting on her journey, Bansi said last year’s experience has made her a better person.
“I am back again as giving up is not an option. The support was very massive last year and even though I could not make it, I still believe the lessons learned have made me stronger and more prepared for this year’s contest.”
“Last year’s experience taught me so much about myself and what it takes to compete at this level. I’ve spent the past year deepening my knowledge of the rich and diverse cultures of the Upper East region, including not just my Bissa heritage, but also the traditions of the Frafra, Kusasi, and other ethnic groups that make our region so vibrant. I am a better person now to be the choice for the region.”
The Ghana Most Beautiful pageant, which features representatives from all 16 regions of Ghana, aims to promote national unity by showcasing the unique stories and cultures of each region. Currently, 32 contestants are awaiting their chance to perform and potentially secure a place in the final 16.
Bansi’s determination has been great, relying on the overwhelming encouragement from people across the Upper East. She is not just representing herself or the Bissa people, but all the diverse communities of our region who aspire to share their culture with the rest of Ghana.
The results of Sunday’s performance and the subsequent selection of the final 16 contestants is eagerly being anticipated by Bansi’s supporters and GMB fans across the nation.
The weekly performances of the selected contestants will be aired live on TV3, offering viewers a chance to experience the diverse cultural set up of Ghana.
Voting ends on Sunday, and individuals can cast their votes via SMS by dialing *713*13#.
