In a show of regional unity, youth from Bolgatanga have rallied behind Ghana Most Beautiful (GMB) contestant Hama Bansi, urging the Upper East to set aside tribal differences and support her journey in the national pageant.

The call for support came through a TikTok video featuring popular Frafra influencers Ayinpomah Tera and her colleague. The duo condemned the criticism directed at Bansi following her selection over Frafra contestant Hawa Asakia for the GMB final 16.

“Wishing bad for Hama is not the way to go. That is unlike the Upper East,” the TikTokers stated, emphasizing the importance of regional solidarity over tribal allegiances.

They also strongly criticized the “Justice for Asakia” calls circulating on social media, pointing out that Asakia herself has not complained about any cheating or injustice during the contest.

Bansi, a young Bissa woman from Kulungungu, secured her place in the final 16 after a stellar performance last Sunday. Her presentation, which highlighted the diverse cultural tapestry of the entire Upper East region, impressed the judges and set her apart from her regional competitor.

The support from the ladies comes at a crucial time as Bansi prepares for the upcoming weekly live performances on TV3. These shows will challenge contestants to showcase their knowledge, talent, and ability to represent their regions effectively.

This display of unity from the duo serves as a reminder of the GMB pageant’s core aim: to promote national unity by showcasing the unique stories and cultures of each region. By backing Bansi, they are not only supporting her individual journey but also championing the collective identity and rich cultural heritage of the Upper East.

The Upper East region now looks forward to the upcoming weeks with renewed enthusiasm, hoping that this display of regional solidarity will propel Bansi towards bringing the GMB crown home.
