LAUNCH OF THE BISSA DEVELOPMENT ASSOCIATION WOMEN’S WING ON SATURDAY, 19TH NOVEMBER, 2022 VIA ZOOM

Ladies and Gentlemen.
My name is Shaibu Musah Gutare, Chairman of the National Executive Committee (NEC), BDA. I stand before you on behalf of all members of NEC, to launch the BDA Women’s Wing.
Ladies and gentlemen, Article 4 (i) (a) of the BDA Constitution provides for a Youth Forum, which may include the Women’s Wing. However, the BDA has over the years had challenges setting up most of its structures, including the Youth Forum and the Women’s Wing. Consequently, a lot of work has been put into mobilizing our women and this has culminated in today’s formal launch.
This launch, it must be noted is not our destination. “A journey of a thousand miles”, they say, “begins with the first step”. This launch must therefore be seen as our first step in building a formidable Women’s Wing.
The Women’s Wing is expected to mobilize all Bissa Women, including wives who are non-Bissas under the umbrella of the BDA, as it is our firm believe that sustainable development begins with the woman. To this end, the BDA is expected to tailor many developmental initiatives through our Women’s Wing for implementation in order to positively affect many Bissa families.
In order to achieve our dreams for our women, we hereby wish to appeal to all Regional and Zonal women organizers as well as all Bissa women to intensify efforts to unite Bissa women under the Women’s Wing to facilitate the role-up of programmes and initiatives to support Bissa women. To this end, each Bissa woman is first encouraged to register with a Zone, comply with the NUNA or other mode of dues payment. Secondly, Zonal/Regional Organizers are to ensure that all women within their regions/ zones are linked to the Women’s Wing.
On behalf of the Lemagan, Council of Elders and the National Executive Committee of the BDA, I today the 19th of November, 2022 declare the Women’s Wing of the BDA duly launched.
