Former Kumasi Asante Kotoko striker Seidu Bancey’s father, Alhaji Seidu Mahmoud Bancey has died aged 76 in Accra after a short illness

Alhaji Seidu Bancey, until his demise, was the Bissa Imam of Tema and also happens to be the elder brother to the Bissa Chief of the Tema community.

He died on Sunday at the 37 Military Hospital but was laid to rest on Monday afternoon in line with Islamic practices.

“The entire Bancey family of Tema and the Bissa clan lost a father, uncle, grandfather and Imam, Seidu Mahmoud Bancey at the 37 military Hospital Yesterday night,” a family statement said.

“May Almighty Allah have mercy on him, forgive him all his sins, the known and the unknown. May the almighty reward him all his good deeds and grant him Jannatul Firdaus.”

Seidu Bancey whose father has died joined Asante Kotoko from New Edubiase United, a club owned by a Bissa business mogul Abdul Salaam Yakubu.
He is the fourth of nine children of the demised dad.

At Kotoko he was popular figure and leader of Coach Didi Dramani squad that won the 2013/14 league.

Final funeral arrangements will be announced by the family in the coming days.
