Nine Bissas graduate from the University of Education Winneba

Eight Bissa students have graduated from the University of Education, Winneba (UEW) at the 2020 congregation ceremonies held earlier this month, bissanewsonline has gathered.

A virtual graduation ceremony held on the 10th and 11th of September, had seven males and a famale graduating with various degrees from the Colleges of the University.

Only graduating PhD students and selected best graduating first-class male and female students were permitted to attend on campus.

Hamidu Fusheni Jinkor,  Iddrisu Musah, Yusif Abdul Hakeem, Kadil Mohammed, Mohammed Najat, Mahmud Adam, Mohammed Suraj, Dasmani Alhaji Daugu and Abubakar Bayan were among thousands of students who found their names in the School’s 25th congregation ceremony for the award of degrees, diplomas and certificates to regular and sandwich students.

Student had to utilise a Learning Management System (LMS) to complete their semester and to do their project work after campuses were closed.

The LMS was brought in as a stop-gap measure to carry out academic work in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic.

For the first time in the history of the school, wild celebrations and photo-taking spree were largely missed, and students have been visiting the campuses in batches to receive their  honours and celebrate their achievements.

Speaking to Bissanewsonline, Fusheni Jinkor, who was the secretary of Bissas on campus, lamented on how the pandemic affected their Zekula plans on campus.

“We are eight in number but we couldn’t meet to have the normal group pictures that everyone would have expected us to have for Zekula sake,” he said.

“People have to visit the campus in batches for their honours but will thank God for bringing us this far and we thank the entire Bissa fraternity for their love and support”.

A total of 12,716 students graduated in the two days event after meeting the requirement.

Out of the total figure, 935 students representing 7% would be awarded Diplomas, 10,195 students representing 80% would be awarded First Degrees while 1,586 students representing 13% would be awarded various Postgraduate Degrees. Overall, male graduands constitute 8,531 representing 67% while the females make up 4,185 representing 33%.

On 10th September 2020, being the first day of the 25th Congregation, a total of 8,029 students from Faculties of Educational Studies, Foreign Languages Education and Communication, Ghanaian Languages Education, Science Education, Social Science Education and Schools of Business Education, Creative Arts and Graduate Studies were presented with Diploma, First Degrees and Postgraduate Degrees.
On 11th September 2020, a total of 4,761 students would receive First Degrees and various Postgraduate Degrees from the Faculties of Agriculture Education, Science and Environment Education, Education and Communication Sciences, Business Education, Technical Education and Vocational Education from the Kumasi and Asante-Mampong Campuses.

The ceremony was streamed live on the University’s website and other social media platforms.
