Swanlake, a suburb in North Kaneshie in Greater Accra, became the next destination for a “Royal Visit” on Saturday 12th September , when the Council of Greater Accra Bissa Chiefs paid a courtesy call on Bissas in the community, deliberating on how to strengthen unity and purpose of belonging among Bissas.

It comes after the Council had embarked on similar visits to Dome and Dome Pillar Communities.

The move, as usual, forms part of the familiarisation agenda designed to foster unity among Bissas across the country.
The meeting, held at the Swanlake Central Mosque, came with a different picture of “Zekula” as it received a huge turn out, with participants praising the idea behind the event.

An 11-member team, under the auspices of the Greater Accra Chief, Mohammed Ali Dabre III,
held talks with the leadership of the community in an extensive discussion geared towards the growth of the fraternity.
Addressing the gathering, leader of deligation, Imam Hassan Nombre, who is the Greater Accra Bissa Chief, Imam, charged Bissas to close their ranks for a stronger fraternity.
He said it’s about time Bissas established a platform for the youth to develop their capacity “for a better tomorrow”.
“Ever since we started with this periodic visit, one thing has been the agenda and it’s all about the development of the Bissa fraternity,” he said.
“Talking about progress means building a stronger foundation with the youth for a better tomorrow.
“It’s about time we bring the youth on board and let them know the future belongs to them, the elderly have done theirs to a point they will be the ones to pick up.”

Present at the gathering include TV3’s news anchor Alhaji Abu Issah Monnie, who contributed to the discussion and urged Bissas to start looking into  a periodic development plan for the future.

The media icon, who is also among the Bissa leadership in Swanlake, wants to see an achievable plan that will position Bissas to be torchbearers in the national development.

“We have the men who are normally in the quiet but doing marvelously well in their areas of operation,” he said.

“But the question is what can we say about us in the next 10, 20, or 30 years, are we going to have a Bissa leading this nation?.

“I would want see the leadership across the country come up with a strategic plan that will position us to be bigger and better in our efforts in national decision making.”
