Council of elders visit two Bissa palaces in the Dome Community

The Greater Accra Council of  Bissa elders on Saturday embarked on unification visit to two Bissa palaces in the Dome Community, looking at strategies to revive the youth wing “to take responsibility”.

A 9-member delegation, under the permission of the Greater Accra Bissa Chief, Mohammad Dabre III, first visited the palace of Chief Issaka Alfar Bansi before moving to the palace of Chief Abdou Yelbi at Pillar 2.

The event, which is an initiative of  the Youth Leader of the Greater Accra Bissas, Alhaji Bayire Abdullahi Mohammed, focused more on Bissa youth and ways to strengthen ties among the various Bissa communities.

Alhaji Bayire, was accompanied by other Chiefs, including the women organiser (magaajia).

At Chief Bansi’s palace, the Alhaji Bayire, known in public life as ‘Alhaji Five Pillars’, urged the youth to come under one umbrella to support the the elderly in building a stronger Bissa Community.

He said the initiative marks  a paradigm shift under his office as the youth leader.

“We are on this mission today because we want to strengthen the relationship between all the Bissas across the region, he said.

“The time has come for a paradigm shift, by which we can integrate with the youth into our affairs since they are the one to take over from our fathers.
“As we’v came here today, there is clear evidence that we need to work harder in this aspect of capturing youth to take responsibility and my office is ready to work hand-in-hand with you to achieve such aim.”

The Zekula traits were once again on display as Saturday’s meeting focused specifically on how Bissas can build a stronger foundation with the youth.

Dome is one of the communities in Accra, which is believed to have quite a great number of Bissas,  who in the quiet, a development described as worrying by the Bissa Chief of Darkuman Abdul Razak Umar Bambara.

“It is worrying to hear there are many Bissas in this community who want to reserve themselves and wouldn’t want to get involved in anything Bissa, Chief Bambara said.

“We came here today with the hope of coming to meet a full house  of Bissa youth but it’s clear there is a lot to be done.
“As you can see your Chief  is not getting any younger and it’s always said the strength of every Chief lies in the hands of the his subjects.
“Now the onus lies on you the youth to start checking and calling on one another to bring them under one umbrella to be able to build a powerful Bissa palace in this your Community.

He called on the few youth present at the gathering to show pride in Bissa, urging them to get up and get counted.

“You are the leaders of tomorrow and this is the time to get up and get counted as a Bissa, ” he added.

There was assurance from the palace that leadership will gather and invite the council for another meeting.

At Chief Abdou Yelbi’s palace at Dome Pillar 2, was a relatively bigger number of Bissas as more people were in the wait to welcome the delegation.

The royal house agreed with the inputs made by the team, thanking them for making such important visit.

According the Chief, Abdou Yelbi, visits of such kind, will always put Bissas on the front foot.

He was of the view that the council of elders will keep on linking up with them to be able to build strong ties among Bissas.

The day was  capped off a with strong networking as there was clear indication that members are ready to work for the betterment of the fraternity.

The team made up of Alhaji Bayire Abdullahi, Known in public life as Alhaji five Pillars, Bissa Chief of Darkuman Abdul Razak Umar Bambara, Alhaji Bashock, Bissa protocol Officer Alhaji Issaka Nombre ( Alhaji weapon)  and many others.
