Brand Bissa Concept meets ‘noble’ Hajia Damata

Brand Bissa Concept on Friday paid a courtesy call on Hajia Damata Sulemana, sharing the organisation’s vision to the experienced midwife.
The visit to the powerful Bissa woman forms part of the BBC’s familiarity tour to the many prominent Bissas, who have been championing the much praised Zekula campaign.

It comes just 3 days after the launch of the “Book the Bissa Child” project, which is aimed at providing bissa children with free customised exercise books.

She is the first female bissa top brass within the Bissa fraternity to be visited by the organisation and also happens to be the first person to call on after the 1st September launch of the project .
At her maternity clinic at Kotobabi in Accra, she warmly received the BBC team made up of the CEO Abdul Malik Guerm and the Project Manager Meyonne Surugu.

They interacted with the award- winning maternity expect to court her advice and support, having being one of the strong pillars in the fraternity.
“We are here formally to introduce ourselves and the mission of the BBC to you, knowing very well your contribution towards the Zekula campaign,” Abdul Malik said.

“As you are aware, the “Book the Bissa Child” project has been launched, meaning the work has just begun.

” It’s a move to contribute our quota to the Zekula campaign, but this can’t be done without seeking the advises from the pioneers like you”.

Friday’s meeting was held in a more mother-children affair as the Vice Chairperson of the Greater Accra Registered Midwives Association gave plethora of advises to the BBC officials.

She gave her ful support for the project as the BBC displayed sample designs of the book to her.
Prior to the visit, Hajia had read about the project through Bissanewsonline publications, which she described as “impressive” and urged the organisation to work hard for it success .
“I saw the news about what you want to do with this initiative, and I think it’s impressive,” she said.
“Some of us will support it but I will urge you to do work hard for the realisation of this dream.

“There are many Bissas who have contributed a lot to the Zekula agenda up till this day, I will advice you to visit or consult some of them for more direction.
She believes the Book the Bissa child project will be more successful with the total support from Bissas.

Hajia Damata retired from public service and is currently running her own clinic ‘The Hajia Damata Maternity & Clinic.’

She was the only Muslim woman among the delegation from Ghana to the Beijing Conference on Women and Development in 1995.
