Bissa FC of Greater Accra will on Saturday lock horns with their Chamba counterparts in a friendly game, assuring their fans of “resounding victory”.
It’s a special soccer clash to climax this year’s Eid ul Adha, which was marked on the 20th of last month.
It is an action-packed sports activity which will turn the Madina Astro Turf into a frenzy arena as the two tribes clash for a friendly pride.
The event will have the males engaged in football match while the females battle in Lime and Spoon race, Sack Race and Tug of Peace.
The football game between the two ethnic groups comes 5 months after they both participated in the maiden Zongo Inter-tribal Gala, which was won by the Zabarmas.
The two tribes are among the most dominant across the Zongos in Accra.
Both sides have waxed lyrical to carry the day but it is the Bissas who are under pressure to deliver, having their Chiefs and more vociferous fans showing interest in the game.
Speaking to bissanewsonline on their preparation, team manager of the Bissas Sanni Mohammed Bansi, popularly known as “Officer”, said his side is well prepared for the friendly clash.
“There is every reason for us to feel more confident and motivated for this game,” he said.
“When talking about football, Bissas have a lot to prove and we equally have a lot to lose if we don’t get a win. So we are going into the game to prove a point.”
There is an age-long friendly relationship between Bissas and Chambas and Bansi explains that such games help to inculcate that feat into the youth.
“The relationship between Bissas and Chambas dates back to the precolonial era, I’v been told,” he said.
“It is something we need maintain and improve upon to for the benefit of peace in out Communities.
“We believe sports is one of the ways to use to consolidate what we have achieved so far and also as avenue to scout budding talents.
“It’s a friendly game to strengthen the ties between us and the chambers but it’s as a well battle for pride as far this fun games are concerned.”
According to the skipper of the side Faisal Alhassan, the team is focused on delivering on Saturday to give a befitting Eid-ul-Adha gift to Bissas.
“It is going to be a tough game meant to fraternise with our Chamba brothers,” he said.
“But it’s equally a big game for pride to those of us who will be on the field of play.
“We are prepared and poised for a resounding victory.”
He called on the Bissa fraternity to come out and throw their support behind the team on that day.
