Bissas’ Hajia Damata Sulemana reported dead

Award-winning maternity specialist Hajia Damata Sulemana has died in Accra, Bissanews has gathered.

Report indicates the powerful Bissa woman passed away on Monday at the Ridge hospital, where she was on admission.

She is to be buried on the same day, in accordance with Islamic tradition.

She was known for her  humanitarian services to society and received numerous awards for that.

Her demise marks a  big loss to the Bissa fraternity, as she is known to be the  frontliners in championing the Zekula agenda.

A midwife, politician, role model and philanthropist, She had served the nation through nursing and midwifery for 39 years until her demise.

In 2018, she won  the Most Influential Woman award organised by the Nima Excellence Awards.

She was  bestowed with the Integrity Merit Award by the award organizing committee of the African Integrity Magazine, a continental publication with offices in both Nigeria and Ghana.

Her working experiences span several locations; some of them being the Ashaiman Health Post, Tema General Hospital, Ridge Hospital, Ussher Clinic, James Town Polyclinic, and finally the Adabraka Polyclinic.

She was the Vice Chairperson of the Greater Accra Registered Midwives Association.

She retired from public service to run her own clinic, Hajia Damata Maternity & Clinic, which serves as a referral institution for midwives and nursing students.
Her ultimate goal of serving her people through saving lives influenced her decision to pursue a course in midwifery, a principle by which she lived.
She is survived by four children.

    We met in 2015 at your facility in Accra
    Our second meeting was at the lateTondoma lale’s funeral who was the former defense minister of The republic of Togo, oh Bissas we have lost a great sister.
