The Bissa Women’s Wing has made a significant contribution towards the upcoming 20th-anniversary celebration of the Zekula festival, donating 1500 GHS to the organizers last night.

“She” joins a long list of organizations and individuals within the Bissa fraternity who have donated generously towards the upcoming 20th-anniversary celebration of the Zekula festival.

The financial boost from the female wing of the Bissa Development Association (BDA) comes just hours ahead of the highly anticipated one-day cultural event slated to take place in Kulungungu today.

In the lead-up to this milestone Zekula@20 edition, the BDA launched a crowdfunding appeal to garner support.

Their efforts have paid off, with many Bissa groups and community members stepping forward to donate their widow’s mite and ensure the festival befitting its 20th anniversary is successfully hosted.

“The Bissa Women’s Wing is pleased to contribute this sum towards upholding and celebrating our rich cultural heritage through Zekula,” said the BDA Women’s Commissioner Madam Dora Kulariba.

“This donation underscores our commitment to making Zekula@20 a resounding success.”

The women’s wing joins a list of organizations within the Bissa fraternity that have all contributed appreciable amounts to the festival’s success.

Besides these organizational donations, there is also a long list of individual Bissas who have offered their contributions to ensure the Bissa capital of Kulungungu comes alive for this milestone event.

The Zekula festival annually serves as the pinnacle cultural event for the Bissa people of Ghana. What began as a local gathering has transformed into the biggest festival in the Upper East region, attracting over 10,000 participants each year, including members of the Bissa diaspora from neighboring countries.

More than just a celebration, Zekula allows the widely dispersed Bissa community to reconnect with their ancestry and cultural roots through traditional dances, cuisine, and other activities showcasing their vibrant heritage.

With the groundswell of support from the Bissa Women’s Wing and many others, the stage is set for a grand 20th anniversary Zekula festival that will be reminisced about for years to come.
