Ten Bissa students have obtained their academic degrees after graduating from the Tamale College of Education (TACE) at the school’s 9th Congregation ceremony held on Saturday, June 17th.

It was another refreshing story with lots of pride at colorful convocation as Bissas’ Sumaila Sewume Bukari won the Overall Best Student award, honoring himself, his immediate family, and the fraternity at large.

It comes six months after completing their courses of study and sitting for the teacher licensure exams, which were written in March this year.

The ten, comprising eight males and two females, were among a total of 473 students who duly satisfied the requirement for award of degrees in the Bachelor of Education in Junior High School Education Program, being the first cohort of the four-year bachelor’s degree in education program at the college.

Out of the seven graduands, seven had first class, with Sewuni as the Valedictorian of the 2022 year group.

242 had Second Class Upper, 188 had Second Class Lower, 34 achieved Third Class, and two achieved Pass.

They are the first batch of degree graduates of the school and  eventually be the last student group to be affiliated with the University of Cape Coast (UCC) as the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) takes over as the new affiliate.

Sumaila Sewume Bukari became the second person in three months to achieve that feat after Abubakar Hadi Zerba’s great achievement at the Islamic University College of Ghana.

The Tamale Training College, affectionately referred to as TACE, was established in 1958 to provide female students with training leading to the award of Certificate ‘A’ Post-Middle and was officially commissioned in 1960 by the then President of the Republic of Ghana, Osagyefo Dr. Kwame Nkrumah.

In 1977, it was turned into a co-educational institution where male students were admitted alongside their female counterparts to pursue the certificate ‘A’ Post Middle Program.

With the upgrading of all teacher training colleges in the country to diploma-awarding institutions, this college has, since the 2004/2005 academic year, run a three-year diploma program in basic education.

  1. Congratulations for making us proud. They should not end it here for the rungs of the ladder were not meant to stay on but as leverage to the summit.
