The Bissa football team of Effiekuma, Takoradi, has raised excitement levels ahead of the Eidul-Adha Inter-Tribal Unity Tournament by revealing their brand new jerseys for the event.

The unveiling comes just days before the tournament, scheduled to kick off at 1 pm on Saturday at the Effikuma Police park.

The new kit, designed specifically for this tournament, features the team’s traditional colors with a modern twist, reflecting both their heritage and their forward-looking attitude.

The main jersey showcases Bissa’s traditional green color with a touch of white for contrast, while the alternative jersey boldly combines red with black shorts.

The tournament will open with a match between Dagomba and Waala at 1 pm. Bissa’s game against Moshie is set as the second match of the day, in what is being dubbed a “Father and Son affair.” This nickname stems from a fascinating historical connection: according to legend, the founder of the Mossi Kingdom, Ouadraogo, was born to a Bissa hunter named Riale in ancient times.

Issa Suleiman, secretary of the Bissa team, expressed enthusiasm about the new kit and the upcoming match.

“Our new jerseys aren’t just about looking good on the field,” Suleiman explained.

“They represent our identity and our commitment to excellence. We believe that when our players put on these jerseys, they’ll feel an extra boost of pride and motivation, especially for our historically significant match against Moshie.”

The unveiling of the new kit has added another layer of anticipation to the already highly awaited tournament. Fans are eager to see their team sporting the fresh look as they compete in this four-team event.

The team goes into the competition with full backing from the Effiekuma Council of Bissa Chiefs in their efforts to unite the youth across the Takoradi suburb.

This move by the Bissa team underscores the significance of the Eidul-Adha Inter-Tribal Unity Tournament, which aims to foster community spirit and unearth local talent. The new jerseys serve not only as a symbol of team unity but also as a testament to the growing importance of such grassroots sporting events in the Effiekuma Zongo area.

Effiekuma is home to a large Bissa community, which has been instrumental in maintaining cultural ties just as the tournament serves as a platform to foster unity among various ethnic groups within the community, leveraging the universal appeal of football to bring people together.

Local supporters are expected to turn out in force on Saturday, many hoping to purchase replicas of the new jerseys to show their support for the Bissa team.

The striking combination of the traditional green and white main kit, along with the bold red and black alternative, is sure to make the Bissa team stand out on the field, particularly during their historically resonant match against Moshie.
