The leadership of the Greater Accra Bissa Soccer team on Sunday (31st January) paid a courtesy call on the Greater Accra Bissa Chief Mohammed Ali Dabre III ahead of their super clash with Chokosi on Wednesday in the ongoing Zongo Inter-tribal Football Gala.
Team members of the team- Sannie Mohammed and Abdul Ganiyu Yussif – were at the Ali Dabre Palace to seek the Chief’s blessings and to court his support for the crucial knock out encounter, which will determine who qualifies to the next stage of the competition.
It will be the 8th game of the tournament and is expected to be cagey as there is no second chance for the defeated team at the preliminary stage.
It is a competition that has lived up to its billing and the Bissa team wants to be forearmed to avert any shocks suffered by some teams in the 7-days-old tournament.
Speaking to Bissanewsline, Sannie Mohammed said the meeting with Chief Dabre ended with promises.
“He was very happy, very supportive and promised to come to the park and witness the Bissa match on Wednesday against the Chokosi tribe,” he said.
“And he promised to support us in any kind.”
The Bissas look favourites to carry the day but they are not leaving anything to chances as even with 24 hours to the match, the leadership is still calling on Bissa players to come and join the team for the task ahead.
“We want to assemble the best of materials for this game as its a knock out thing,” Sanni Mohammed said.
“So if there is any Bissa from any part of the country with the quality to do, the door is open, he should join for us to go for the kill.”
The maiden Zongo inter tribal gala started on Wednesday 27th January with 18 tribal teams and has so far produced some interesting results.
The last two days have come up with even more surprising results as the Kotokolis annihilated the Wangaras by 3-0 on Sunday with the Dagombas kicking out the Akans by 2-1
With some Zongo heavey weights like the Yoruba and Hausa being booted out of the tournament, all eyes are on the Bissa team and how they will fare against the Chokosi tomorrow.
The Zabarmas are facing a stiff opposition from the Dandawas today.
