A graduating Bissa student of the School of Public at University of Health and Allied Sciencese (UHAS) Shaibu Issifu Walga on Saturday brought an enviable honour to himself and family after grabbing First Class honours.
At the 2nd session of 6th Congregation ceremony held at the Ho Campus, the young man became one of the most decorated graduates in the school’s history by winning the award for the Outstanding graduating student for Bachelor of Public Health (Nutrition).
He walked home with the special citation, book and cash prize but left behind a good name for academic recognition.
It was the second time Shaibu Issifu Walga was receiving an award at a graduation after winning the 2019 Best Graduating Student at the College of Health and Well-being, Kintampo, where he read Dental Surgery Technician.
He was among some 865 students who graduated from the University after completing his Degree Course in two years.
After working for years as Dental Surgery Technician, Walga joined the UHAS in 2019 to pursue a degree course and his hard work paid off in the long run as he finished his undergraduate studies with the best of honours.
It was a moment of pride on a day of fulfilment of a dream as Walga’s name was mentioned to the congregation in the full-packed auditorium.
And amid an enthusiastic applause, the Bissa man walked majestically onto the stage for his prize that was won after a course.
