Bissa leadership in US pays courtesy call on East Orange Mayor

Leadership of the Bissa fraternity of New Jersey on 24th June paid a courtesy call on the Mayor of East Orange, New  Jersey TED Green,  introducing to him the New  Head Imam of Bissas in the city.
It came 12 days after the installation of Sheikh Bashiru Seidu Sewuni as the new Bissa Chief Imam of New Jersey.
An eight-member delegation, led by the Bissa Chief of New Jersey Kir Alhaji Ibrahim Adam, made the trip to the Mayor’s office at 44 City Hall Plaza.
It was a fruitful meeting that saw the  length of the extension of the Bissa brand and its  contribution to the development of the world.
In his introductory remarks, Kir Alhaji Ibrahim Adam, who doubles as the  Bissa Chief of Aworo Krom in the Ahafo Anor south  District Mankranso in the Ashanti of Ghana, Commended Mayor Green for the wonderful work he and his administration has done in turning the city of East Orange economy around, thereby attracting investors all around.
He cited a little history of the city of East Orange, touching on the deplorable developmental challenges Mayor Green inherited and has been able to solve, saying “it is  therefore is not surprising that Mayor Green is going unopposed in the city of East Orange,” something that has never happened since around 1964.

The Mayor welcomed the Imam and his delegates and introduced them to his Council members and various departments under his administrations.

He commended Kir Alhaji Ibrahim Adam for His immense contributions to the city of East Orange and the entire New Jersey. Mayor added the chief is not a stranger in the entire New Jersey.

“He has been the mouthpiece of the State of New Jersey to our African communities,” Mayor Green said.

“Every call to help in any city in New Jersey he has given unflinching support.”

He therefore expressed happiness to have  welcomed His Imam Bashir through the trust and happy environment Chireh Adam has created.

Imam Bashiru will be deputised by Sheikh Dawuda Mohammed Saabik in adminstration the religious duties for the Bissa people in New Jersey.
They were both installed on the 12th June and automatically join the leadership set up of Bissas in the country.
Expressing his preparedness for the task, Imam Bashiru also thanked the mayor and his administration for the warm reception. He prayed for them and also gave advice to all .
” In life everything you do is history, so be a good type to be told after you,” he said, adding that “Mayor Green has started writing his good history that earned him no opposition in this election year”.
It was a visit to introduce an Imam to mayor but as well turned to be a proxy bilateral discussion between Ghana and America.

Sheikh Dawud Haqq ( Chief Imam of Newark Council Of Ulama’ a and Imam Of NIA mAsjid), DR. Mustapha Ahmed ( Former Member of parliament for East Ayawaso constituency, and former Minister for Youth and Sports) Sheikh Jamal Gambo ( imam from New York , Mount Hope Masjid Bronx NY), and  Mr.  Mustapha Berchahema Ahmed Junior.
Other were  Sister Beatrice Saahene ( A representative from the Ashanti community and President of Beautiful Hearts We care NJ. ) and Mr.Barima Kwadjo Adu  (A representative from the Ashanti community and senior Secretary of Beautiful Hearts We care NJ).
Touching on the significance of the meeting to Bissa people, both home and abroad, Dr. Mustapha Ahmed, who also served as Minister of State under the Mahama admistration,  hailed Mayor Green for his exceptional leadership qualities and urged him to make available time to visit Ghana.
“There are a lot of developmental relationships to benefit both administrations,” he said.
