The Bissa Fitness Club is considering the “possibility” of staging “a strong come back” to the training field, more than two months after it was suspended because of the Coronavirus pandemic.
Members of the club have been asked to “jack up” for a return that will be in accordance to strict proviso that all the safety requirements are met.
It comes just few days after the Government announced the easing of restrictions imposed to contain the spread of the virus in the country.
The club is hankering for a return to action with the weekly-organised aerobics, which underlines the aim of improving the well-being of its members through fitness, as well as fostering unity among the Bissa Ethnic Group and its adjoining tribes in Ghana.
In a statement issued on Thursday, the leadership of the club assured it’s members of an ongoing deliberations in order to come to the fruitful finality of its plans for the continuation of activities.
“Executives are deliberating on the possibility of a strong come back which will go in-line with the precautionary measures,” the statement read.
“Jack up yourselves, we gonna hit the grounds soon Insha Allah.”
The club brought all its activities to halt in conformity with Government’s directive to suspend all social gatherings when the dreaded covid-19 reared it ugly head in the country.
The Government on 16th March, 2020 imposed various restrictions as part of measures to control the spread of the Coronavirus disease.
It banned all public gatherings like conferences, funerals, festivals, political rallies, Church services, Islamic worship and sports activities for an initial 4 weeks, which was followed by series of extensions.
It had taken those measures in a bid to fight against the virus, which at that time had only affected six persons.
But after weeks and months of strategical measures to fight the menace, the Government has eased it’s restrictions on movements but urged Ghanaians to still observe the social distancing protocol.
The club, since its formation in 2018, has made a headway through the organisation of fitness exercises , a feat that has made it one of the fastest growing keepfit clubs in the country.
With its growing members of over 300, it is not yet known how its envisaged training session will be organised, coupled with the fact that the Government’s new directives only allow not more than 100 congregants even for religious bodies in just an hour.
The new measures
In a televised address on Sunday 31st May the President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo announced measures to ease restrictions on public gatherings in the country.
Under the new directives, which take effect from Friday 5th June, church services and Muslim prayers can take place with 100 congregants at a time and for only one hour.
Social-distancing rules and mandatory wearing of masks must also be enforced.
“So, fellow Ghanaians, with effect from Friday, 5th June, we will begin Stage One of the process of easing restrictions, ” he announced
“An abridged format for religious services can commence. Twenty-five percent (25%) attendance, with a maximum number of one hundred (100) congregants, can worship at a time in church or at the mosque, with a mandatory one metre rule of social distancing between congregants.
The new directives add that each religious service will be allowed to run for a maximum of one hour.
The wearing of masks will be mandatory and handwashing facilities and sanitisier must be provided, in addition to which a register of names and contact details of all worshippers must be kept.
However, sports activities still remain suspended as he country’s confirmed cases of covid-19 hit over 8,000 with 38 deaths and more than 3,000 recoveries.
