Bissa Community in Obuasi installs new chief

Astute Business man Alhaji Issah Ahmed Dabre was on Sunday installed as the new Bissa Chief of Obuasi, formally succeeding  his predecessor, who died in March.

A Queen mother Adiza Yakubu Dabre and Youth chief Adam Zakari Zampu were also installed, all under the supervision of the Ashanti Regional Council of Bissa Chiefs.

Their formal investiture comes under auspices of the Ashanti Regional Bissa Chief, Kir TankoYemboni, who Chairs the regional council.

It was held in a colourful ceremony attended by dignitaries from across the length and breadth of the country.

Amidst cultural display and fanfare, the Council installed Kir Dabre in line with the customs and traditions of the Bissa people to fill the void created by the late chief Issaka Mahama who died after a short illness.

Sunday’s event grabbed attention and drew a large crowd to the Obuasi Zongo playing Ground where Kir Dabre was corronated with regal power to lead and serve Bissa interest in the gold-mining town.

Among the dignitaries that graced the occasion were the Ashanti Regional Bissa Chief Imam, the BDA National Organiser Alhaji Osuman Issaka Nombre  and a joint delegation from the Greater Accra and Central regional Bissa Councils led by Kir Shaibu Alhassan Zerba and Kir Alhaji Zakari Abdulai Bayiri, respectively.

Others were the aspiring NDC MP for Obuasi Faustiluve Kanin and some tribal chiefs of the of the Obuasi Community.

The new Chief, who is a Baker by profession and the fourth to ascend the throne, was also introduced to the Sarkin Zongo and  was then taken through the principal streets of the Obuasi community.

Kir Dabre’s ascension to the Bissa seat comes five months after a massive endorsement by the Bissas in the Community.

Speaking to Bissanewsonline’s Abdul Malik Guerni at his palace, Kir Ahmed Dabre thanked the Bissa community in Ghana and all stakeholders for the overwhelming support and pledged to prioritise the welfare of the Bissa community in the Region.

He called for peaceful co-existence to create an enabling environment for business activities and community development.
