Bissa Chief of New Jersey makes special Eid-ul Adha donation to 150 widows in Awrokrom

The Bissa Chief of New Jersey Kir Alhaji Ibrahim Adams, has donated assortment of foodstuffs to about 150 widows at Awrokrom and its surrounding communities in Ahafo Ano South District of the Ashanti Region to mark their Eid-ul Adha celebration.

It came just 24 hours after the  first day of the Eid was marked across the world, bringing smiles on the faces of the  the poor and vulnerable in the society.

Some of the items donated on Wednesday, July 21, 2021 to the widows were bags of rice, boxes of cooking oil and meat from the slaughtered animals for the Eid.

The donation by Kir Alhaji Ibrahim Adams, who also happens to be the Bissa Chief for the people of  Awrokrom, fulfills the demand by Islam on Muslims who are able to  slaughter an animal on the Eid day.

Traditionally, a Muslim will keep one-third of the meat for their family, a third for their neighbour, and a third for the poor and vulnerable.

Eid-ul-Adha is the Islamic festival celebrated among Muslims in remembrance of the sacrifice Prophet Ibrahim made out of his strong faith in Allah, the Most High.

The celebration which is characterised by the slaughtering of animals to symbolically signify the sacrifice Prophet Ibrahim made is highly revered by all Muslims across the globe.

Presenting the items on behalf of Alhaji Adams, Mr Mohammed Bansi, a brother to the Chief stated that the donation was aimed at putting smiles on the faces of the widows on such a special occasion.

He lauded some foreign partners including Hossam Farag (Bloomfield Pharmacy), Dr Amatulla Saffir, Brother Rhadee and Adrew Carter for their commitment and continued support.

Mr Bansi noted that these friends have been assisting  Alhaji Adams on his annual charity to the needy.

ADVICE:

Mr Bansi said his brother sees charity and supporting the needy as a responsibility for all.

On his brother’s part,  he noted the commitment is to donate to support his town folks at every opportunity.

He however rallied those who have been shown mercy by Allah to get wealth to  support the needy

According to him, supporting and providing for the need of the underprivileged is a collective responsibility since such effort provides the best security for them.

WIDOWS:

Some of the widows who spoke to the media, also expressed their profound gratitude to Alhaji Ibrahim Adams and his foreign partners for their usual support to the poor.

They however pleaded with the Bissa Chief and his friends to offer some of the active widows financial assistance to start petty trading.

This, they noted, could help them to cater for their family as single mothers.

Asana Mohammed, a young widow said some of her folks who are active could work when given some support to provide for their needs as well as cater for those of their old and ailing fellow widows.
