Bissa Chief of New Jersey and Awrokrom loses wife

Bissa Chief of New Jersey and Awrokrom Chireh Alhaji Ibrahim Adam has lost his first wife, Hajia Zainab, who was the “Nkosuohemaa” (Development Queenmother) of Bonkwaso in the Ashanti Region.

A family statement said Hajia Zainab, aka Nana Akyaa Yaa Asantewa, died in her sleep at her daughter’s residence in Atlanta in the early hours of Thursday October 13th, 2022.

“I regret to announce the sad news of the passing of Chireh Alhaji Ibrahim Adams’ eldest wife for the past 30+ years,” the statement said.

“Nana Yaa Asantewaa (Nana Akyaa) died in her sleep in Atlanta, where her daughter resides.”

She was married to Chireh for more than thirty years, and her death comes at a time when her husband is recovering from surgery.

“Chireh, in his surgery recovery and in pain, is now in Atlanta seeing to her burial process,” the statement added.

“Please let us all find time to sympathize with him during this period. Allah protect the rest of the family and guide you through this period.”

 

Late Hajia Zainab, was the Development Queenmother of of Bonkwaso in the Ashanti Region.

She has since been buried at Lovey Joy Muslim Cemetery, 1510 Lovejoy Rd, Hampton, Georgia 30250 on Monday following Janaaiza prayers were held at the Masjid Mumunin, 1127 Hank Aaron Drive SW, Atlanta, GA 30315.

The burial service, which took place on Sunday, October 16th, was quickly followed by a commisuration visit to the bereaved family’s home at 4166 Fortune Point, Atlanta, GA 30449.

Born Juanita L Wilson, she changed her name to Zainab when she accepted Islam, that is naming herself after Chireh’s mother.

She became Hajia Zainab when Chireh performed Hajj on her behalf in 2018.

Hajia Zainab was Installed as Development Queen mother of Bonkwaso in the Ashanti Region of Ghana, with the stool name Nana Akyaa in the year 2002.

But she picked Yaa Asantewaa the very first time she came to Ghana, drawing inspiration from the late Asante warrior.

As an Afro-American young student, she had developed love Yaa Asantewaa because she stood up with the white people. she admired Yaa Asantewaa’s bravery.

She had visited many countries in Africa such as Ghana, Burkina Faso,Togo, Benin, Nigeria,South Africa, Zimbabwe.

She also visited Jamaica, Brazil, Porto Rico and many more.
