Bissa moved into the last 16 of the Zongo Intertribal Gala as they beat Kado 10-9 in an epic penalty shootout on Saturday.
Goalkeeper Seth Dabre became the hero of the day after scoring and saving a decisive kick to send Bissas through.
A dramatic and lengthy penalty shootout of 24 kicks saw Captain Hakeem Dabre score both of his kicks to keep Bissas in the lead as Kado failed to score their 12th.
The match finished 0-0 after 90 minutes, and 19 penalties were scored until Titus saw his kick saved by Seth Dabre.
Bissa had dominated the entire game but failed to find the back of the net as many times as Kado’s keeper was called to action.
Manager Saani Bansi’s men are in search of their first laurel in three attempts, and Saturday’s contests from the Kados give a clear indication of how keen the competition has become.
It was a day filled with intense pressure, a beautiful display of football, and anxiety as a lengthy shootout kept the leadership on tenterhooks.
After nine penalties scored apiece out of 11 kicks, the mantle returned to Hakeem Dabre to keep his team in the game, and the skipper made no mistake by sending the Kado keeper the wrong way.
And when the Kados stepped up for their kick, it was Seth Dabre who stood and equally got his reflexes right to deny the opponents any chance of progressing.
He displayed the sharpness of his agility to parry Kado’s kick to keep Bissa’s campaign alive, and his heroic save became decisive in pushing Kulungungu natives up for a 1/16 clash with Grushi next week.
The victory keeps Bissa’s 100 percent record among the few teams never to have lost their opening match in the three-year history of the tournament.
And it was a perfect response from the playing body to the many high-powered delegations from the Greater Accra Bissa Palace who had thronged the venue to cheer it up in “Zekula” fashion.
Bissa will meet Grushi, who equally beat the Sisalas 4-3 on penalties on Marchday 3 on Friday.
That’s a great 👍 move for the Bissa’S go for the gold
Bissa oooooo Bissa Zekula Npanga.
