The Bissa Development Association (BDA) on Saturday, 13th August, began vetting batch of aspirants seeking executive positions for the Greater Accra region.

It comes two months after the Association closed nominations for the exercise meant to appoint leaders to steer Bissa affairs in the capital city.

A three-member panel selected from the National Executive Committee (NEC) successfully vetted the first batch of four aspirants, who are hankering after various positions at the regional level of the Association.

The four aspirant, Shaibu Adam Alele, Basheeru Chirga Abdul-Hakim, Abdul Razak Hussein and Adnan Saeed Tarnagda, took turns to answer questions from the panel at the event held at Afrikiko restaurant in Accra.

Shaibu Adam Alale was the first to be vetted

The exercise was to ascertain whether the aspirants are of competence as well as their validity in terms of membership, among several other factors.

In all, 12 people, comprising 7 men and 5 women, applied for one of the eleven available positions.

The BDA Chairman Shaibu Musah Gutare Zanni chaired the vetting committee and was supported by the Secretary Mustapha Saad Kanbusu Seidu and Aliu Mohammed Bawure, who is the Association’s Special Duty Officer on Culture.

Speaking to bissanewsonline.com, Chairman Gutare Zanni said the committee may schedule another vetting session with the rest of the aspirant next week.

He spelt out the criteria as one’s loyalty and willingness to contribute to the growth of  Association.

The BDA, which is the developmental wing of the Bissa fraternity, opened nominations in February for the regional executive positions.

The move forms part of a strategic plan to bring the Association to the doorstep of every Bissa at every corner of the country.

According to Chairman Gutare, the committee’s final report will be submitted to the NEC for consideration, underscoring the need for the aspirants to exercise maximum restraint when the final list is announced.
