The Bisaa Development Association (BDA) has sworn in newly elected members to its National Executive Council (NEC) for the next three years, marking a smooth transition of power within one of Ghana’s prominent ethnic associations.

The ceremony, presided over by the Lemagan, had four out of the nine newly elected executives take the oath of office at a brief ceremony held at Afrikiko restaurant in Accra on Saturday.

Mr Faruk Dubuire, a member of the Lemagans council, administered the oath of office following the expiration of the previous Gutare administration’s three-year term.

Among those sworn in were Chairman Musah Shaibu Gutare Zanni Esq., re-elected for a second term, Mr Ali Bawure, officer in charge of culture, Magaajia Khadijah Ali Dabonni, responsible for Women and Children’s affairs, and newly elected deputy organiser Ali Ibrahim Issaka Yemboni.

The new executive team represents a blend of experience and fresh perspectives, with five members returning from the previous administration and four new entrants joining the leadership.

In recognition of the association’s geographically diverse membership and embracing modern technology, arrangements have been made for the remaining five executives, who were absent from the in-person ceremony, to be sworn in virtually at a later date.

This hybrid approach ensures that all newly elected NEC members, including those outside of Accra, can fulfill their ceremonial obligations regardless of their location.

While the primary focus of the gathering was the swearing-in ceremony, the agenda also included time for “other important business,” as determined by the Lemagan’s Council.

Speaking at the function, Lemagan Dominic Sori Payida urged the new committee members to ensure the BDA achieves its aspirations.

“Our association’s success rests on your shoulders,” he said.

“You must work tirelessly to uplift our community and drive meaningful progress. Remember, unity and dedication are key to achieving our shared goals.”

The new committee faces the challenge of strengthening the association, including improving its financial standing.

Chairman Gutare expressed gratitude to the Bissa members for their continued trust.

“I am deeply humbled by your faith in my leadership,” he stated.
“This renewed mandate energises me to work even harder for our community’s development. Together, we will build on our past achievements and chart a course for a brighter future.”

Gutare thanked the members of the outgoing committee and encouraged the new executives to contribute their utmost to help the BDA achieve its objectives.

The BDA, which represents the interests of the Bissa community, continues its work to foster development and unity among its members.

In line with the structure of Chairman Gutare’s first term, the full National Executive Council will comprise 13 members once all positions are filled, ensuring continuity in the association’s leadership framework.
