The Madina Zone of the Bissa Development Association (BDA) has set the bar high by donating an impressive GHC 1,000 towards the upcoming 20th anniversary Zekula Festival.
It comes as a response to a crowdfunding appeal issued by the mother body and the organisers of the Zekula Festival, which comes off in Kulungungu on May 4.
This pioneering gesture makes the zone the first among BDA’s structures to financially contribute to the landmark cultural celebration’s crowdfunding efforts.
Notably, the Madina Zone holds the distinction of being the initial zonal branch established by BDA in the Greater Accra Region.
As such, its role as a frontrunner in supporting this year’s milestone festival carries added significance and symbolic weight.
As the Upper East region braces for this milestone gathering, the Madina Zone, led by its Chairman, Dr Massawudu Amadu, has firmly etched its name as a torchbearer with the move to stand up and get counted.
Early this month, Bissa Development Association (BDA), as organisers, put out an appeal for donations from individuals and institutions to ensure they could cover the costs of hosting the major cultural celebration.
While some individuals have donated what they can, institutions are now stepping up their support. The Madina Zone’s GHC 1000 donation follows a GHC 500 presented by the Gomoa Fetteh Bissa Palace.
This groundswell of support underscores the community’s collective commitment to preserving their rich Bissa cultural heritage.
With just 5 days until the Zekula@20 festival in Kulungungu, the Bissa Development Association (BDA) as organisers are in a last-minute fundraising push through all angles.
The iconic Zekula Festival, represents a cherished homecoming for Bissas to reconnect with their rich heritage and kinfolks. It attracts over 10,000 participants annually from across the country and beyond, making it the biggest in the entire Upper East region.
Instituted by BDA, the Zekula Festival serves as a pivotal cultural nexus, uniting the various Bissa clans under one celebratory umbrella. Far from just festivities, the event fosters unity, intergenerational exchange, and drives community development initiatives.
It is hoped that this shining example will galvanise other well-wishers, corporate bodies, individuals, and the remaining BDA zones to contribute generously.
Individuals and institutions willing to donate can do so to Shaibu Musa on mobile money number 0244075654.
