The National Executive Committee (NEC) of the Bissa Development Association (BDA) has launched its three-year Strategic Plan, calling on all Bissas to come on board to support it to success.
It comes just 72 hours after the Gutare Zanni-led administration hit it’s 100 days milestone in the quest to transform the lives of Bissas across the world.
At a virtual press conference on Thursday 17th June, Chairman Gutare Zanni underlined key initiatives of the plan, including ways to improve the speaking of the Bissa language among families.
He highlighted the various components in the six-goal project, to be implemented in achieving the aims and objectives of them Association.
In the heart of the plan are steps to be taken to addressing a number of pertinent issues facing the Bissa people – from education and employment to health and building a united front across the country.
” The BDA will maintain 10 regional structures in line with previous regions and gradually increase to 16 where at least 50 or more persons are registered,” he said in his speech.
“NEC will identify committed Bissas in the regions and speak to them to mobilise Bissas within the region.
“Any region that can register (name, phone number and location) up to 50 Bissas who pay at least GHc1.00 or any of the benefits scheme dues category will be inaugurated by NEC.
“Existing regional structures must show records of registered members of up to 50 and dues payment to qualify for fresh elections to be organized.”
The national body will also set reorganisation policies for its subsidiaries -regional and zonal, in order to structure a consistent stream of action for achieving its aims.
The BDA’s thirteen member National Executive Committee has moved fast since its March 6 swearing-in, developing various strategies to ensure more Bissas are brought under the “zekula” umbrella.
Even before the launch of the Strategic Plan, the NEC had already hit the ground running by implementing some of the policies.
Most of Chairman Gutare Zanni’s policies in his first 100 days have been aimed at building a stronger base by bringing the BDA closer to the doorstep of every Bissa.
In its bid to expand the association’s membership base, the administration announced three different WhatsApp groups to admit more Bissas onto its platform.
It also launched its Social Media pages on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram aimed at gaining visibility for the association in carrying the Zekula campaign across the world.
Those efforts have paid off, as many more have joined the association with the speedy payment of membership dues.
The speech delivered by the NEC chairman, also touched on previous goals and what has been achieved so far in their three months of operation.
It also announced a well-defined strategy to encourage BDA members and Bissas to take up ‘#Speak Bissa Challenge’, a campaign which will be launched soon.
The new administration is made up of thirteen member executives, five of which were elected unopposed and eight other members who were appointed by the Chairman and endorsed by the Office if the Lemagan.
Commending the NEC of their efforts who represented the Lemagan, charged the current administration to ensure what ever has been captured in the plan will be implemented, underscoring the need to have all Bissas coming on board to support the administration.
“I commend you for putting up such a wonderful strategic plan and assure you the full support of the Lemagan’s office,” he said.
“As you said, this is a work-in-progress and will need everybody on board to make it successful.
“Much as we give you thumbs up for a great work done, we will equally ensure that you are able to achieve whatever you have in this plan.”
Thursday’s Zoom meeting was the NEC’s maiden public address and had Bissas from all spheres life participating, including those in abroad.
According the Chairman Gutare Zanni, the NEC will keep updating members of the progress being made at each stage of implementation.
