The Bissa Development Association (BDA) will on Saturday 5th February 2022 visit Madina community in Accra to witness the election of zonal executives who will run the affairs of the association.
It comes upon an invitation by the Bissa chief of Madina, Kir Alhaji Adams Yurusah, who will preside over the all-important event.
The event which will be hosted by Alhaji Awudu, the Bissa Chairman for Madina, at his residence at the Social Welfare- Mayea Hot road, will be attended by members of the Bissa fraternity in Madina and other parts of Greater Accra.
Nine Executive positions are available to be contested with both men and women showing interest to pick a mantle.
It is a day to choose fresh hands for the Bissa task and falls in line with the BDA’s ongoing nationwide sensitization and reorganization program.
The BDA has been holding the reorganization and sensitization programme as part of plans to get the Association strengthened to achieve the objects of its strategic plan 2022 – 2024.
In a strategic move to carry the association to a higher heights, the Gutare -Zanni administration has resolved to go back to the basics by building the foundation from the Zonal and regional levels.
In it’s 11 months in office the National executive committee (NEC) has visited some parts of the country such as Upper East, Upper West, Brong Ahafo and Ashanti regions, of which the Greater Accra is the current focus.
While a minimum of 50 people are expected to be registered to form a regional level Association, a minimum of 25 members qualify as a Zonal branch.
About 50 communities have so far been covered in the Greater Accra region and are earmarked for zonal branches.
The Madina Community, however, has a well-organized Bissa group in place and thus becomes the first Zone to qualify to hold an executive election.
The BDA’s reorganization and sensitization programme was brought to a halt in November last year following the sudden demise of the Association’s National Organiser, Alhaji Osman Issaka Nombre.
Saturday’s special event, which is scheduled at 10am, is expected to attract a large group of Bissas membership of which the BDA officials will seize the opportunity to explain the Strategic Goals it has outlined to run the affairs of Association.
The Madina community thus becomes the second community to be visited by the executives of the Association in the year 2022 after the Central Regional Council of Bissa Chiefs hosted them at their monthly meeting held at Tuba, Kasoa last week.
