A four-member delegation from the National Executive Committee (NEC) will attend the Ashanti Sukuma 2022 to be held in Kumasi on Monday, December 26th, the BDA has announced.
At a meeting on Saturday, Chairman Shaibu Musah Gutare Zanni; Officer in Charge of Culture, Mohammed Aliu Bawure Sewuni; Deputy Women’s Commissioner, Magaajia Khadija Ali Dabonni; and Deputy Secretary Mohammed Abdul Malik Guerni will represent the NEC at the festival, which is the first of its kind.
The Sukuma, established by BDA for all other regions as a move to keep the bigger Zekula Festival solely celebrated in Kulungugu, the Bissa traditional capital in the Upper East Region,
It comes as a move to allow all splinter associations to unite under one umbrella in building a stronger fraternity for development across the country.
Chairman Gutare and Madam Khadija Dabonni are expected to address the gathering on behalf of the BDA and the Bissa Women’s Wing, respectively.
The Ashanti Regional branch of the BDA, with backing from the regional council of Bissa Chiefs, is celebrating the Sukuma festival to unite the Bissa people and display their beautiful culture.
It therefore marks the end of the separate celebrations of the mini Zekula Festival, which has led to some fractured relationships among Bissas in the region.
And it equally marks the beginning of bringing everyone under the BDA umbrella, following a huge role played by the National Executive Committee (NEC) to unite Bissas.
The region thus becomes the first to celebrate the Sukuma, as the Jubilee Park in Kumasi will host the colorful event, which promises to be a day packed with glitz and glamor.
The program is scheduled to commence at 10 a.m. on Monday, December 26, which is Boxing Day.
