BANA holds March meeting in New York

The Bissa Association of North America (BANA) has successfully held its meeting for the month of March with a call on Bissas all over the world to get up and get counted.

The one day high-powered meeting, attended by Chiefs, business moguls and policy drivers in the US, came to an end with a unanimous agreement to draw a priority actions to help develop the fraternity across the world.

The event encapsulated not only BANA’s aspirations for the future but also identified key flagship programmes which can boost Bissa’s economic growth and development for rapid transformation of the fraternity.

It was a meeting attended by Chiefs, religious leaders and business moguls

It was an affirmation of their commitment to support Bissa’s new path for attaining inclusive and sustainable economic growth and development.

A plan to link up with other Bissas in Canada and Europe to grow the association in the Diaspora, a move to establish a stronger collaboration with sister associations back home were the main topical issues at Sunday’s all important event.

Chaired by the  Vice President Masawudu, BANA members identified that the lack of development for Bissas back home directly poses a serious threat to all Bissas across the World and called for collective action.

The association said a collective Bissa development is a concrete manifestation of the “Bissa oo Bissa drive for unity, self-determination, freedom, progress and collective prosperity being pursued under Zekula umbrella for Bissa renaissance”.

It was a day of declaration by BANA members towards the attainment of the Zekula and over 20 members made it to the meeting venue at Jerome and 205th street in New York to participate in a program.

Others such, who could not make it to the venue, such as President Alfa Yusif Zaare,  joined the meeting via online.

Members took turn to put forward their ideas to leadership, suggesting ways to help the association grow for the benefit for both Bissas home and abroad.

They concluded that the priority actions to be taken include supporting Bissas through education and employment by establishing a link with the Bissa Development Association (BDA) to act as a coordinating unit to achieve the developmental aims.

Present at the meeting in-person were Vice Masawudu, the  Bissa Chief of New Jersey Chirr Adam Ibrahim Bansi, Chirr Abdullah Abubakar Gambo of New York, BANA Vice President and BANA secretary Sheikh Tayyib.

Others were Bissa Head Imam of New Jersey, Imam Bashir Sewuni, Alhaji Daouda Guessongoni (aka. Sleeping lion) and Hajia Habiba Sako.
