The Greater Accra Bissa community is mourning the loss of Fairuza Usman Dabre, daughter of former Bissa Chief Osman Ali Dabre II.

She passed away on Wednesday, May 1st, after a brief illness, the palace has said.

The devastating news comes just a month and a half after the Ali Dabre Palace suffered another heartbreaking loss with the passing of Kir Mohamed Ali Dabre III in early March.

According to an announcement from the palace, Fairuza took ill while the family was in a period of mourning and celebrating the funerals and installations of Mohamed Ali Dabre III and Salisu Ali Dabre IV, respectively.

“We have just lost our daughter Fairuza Usman Ali Dabre, daughter of late Kir Osman Ali Dabre, and a niece to late Kir Mohamed Ali Dabre Mudi and Hajia Rauda, as well as Chief Salisu Ali Dabre,” the statement read. “She was also a younger sister to the family.”

The palace requested prayers, stating, “May Allah accept and forgive her.”

She has since been buried under Islamic traditions at the Madina Muslim Cemetery on Thursday afternoon.

Fairuza’s untimely demise has struck a brutal blow to the Ali Dabre family, who were still grappling with the immense void left by the passing of the former chief, Kir Mohamed, just a month and a half ago.

Her ties to Bissa royalty as the daughter of a former chief and niece to other traditional leaders underscore the magnitude of this loss for the Greater Accra Bissa community.

As condolences pour in, the palace remains steadfast in organising befitting final rites to honour Fairuza’s legacy and mourn this double tragedy with dignity.
