The beloved national organizer of the Bissa Development Association (BDA), Alhaji Osman Issaka Nombre, who was enamored by the general Bissa fraternity, has died at age 62.

It comes a few hours after he was showered with prayers and praises on the occasion of his 62nd birthday.

The death of Mr. Nombre, known in public life as Alhaji Weapon, occurred at the Mamobi Polyclinic a few minutes after he was sent to the facility under an emergency situation.

He had received a plethora of birthday wishes from family and friends in the early hours of Saturday through the afternoon.

It however turned out to be a different story in the evening as reports of his death started tickling in amid doubts and shocks until family information confirmed it.

“It is with sadness that I announce to you the sudden passing of the BDA National Organiser, Alhaji Osman Nombre (Weapon), just this evening,” it read.

“May Allah have His mercies on his soul.” It’s a big blow. “Sorry to the Bissa fraternity,” the statement read as a fellow uplift gave details of his burial.

Alhaji Osman Issaka Nombre, a farmer and a civil engineer by profession, was among a 13-member National Executive Committee sworn into office in March for a three-year mandate of the BDA.

He won the position of National Organizer as one of five elected members of the National Executive Committee (NEC).

He was arguably the busiest member of the NEC during the period, as his office was tasked with leading the sensitization and reorganization of Bissas across the country.

He had earlier in the day expressed his uncertainty about joining the Greater Accra entourage that was to travel to Kumasi for the maiden Ashanti Zekula Poore, a mini Bissa festival being held on Sunday at Ammoamang.

“I have not decided yet,” he told Bissa News Online’s Abdul Malik Guerm at 4:24 GMT.

“I will let you know later when I decide,” he added.

He had earlier initiated and led a series of the BDA’s sensitization programs across the Greater Accra Region, naming the Madina, Ashiaman, and Klagon communities as the next destination.

He is regarded as one of the lynchpins of the Bissa’s Zekula agenda and holds the position of Gateway Chief at the Ali Dabre Palace in Greater Accra, while he informally adores the title of Chief Bissa Protocol Officer.

He was scheduled to be an MC at late Lady King’s funeral in Greater Accra next week.

According to a later joint statement by the family and the Ali Dabre Palace, the man, whose demise is seen as a big loss to the fraternity, will be buried on Sunday afternoon.

“The family of late Alhaji Issaka Osman Nombre (the Weapon), Chief Dabre, and his cabinet have resolved that the burial of our beloved one will take place tomorrow, Sunday, November 28, 2021.

“TIME: 1:30 PM

“VENUE: Achimota cemetery.”
