Bissa actress Latipha Sangou has added another milestone to her growing list of achievements as she graduated from Ghana Communication Technology University (GCTU) with a degree in Information Technology during the institution’s 35th graduation ceremony.
It comes after four-year study at the school’s Tesano campus in Accra, where she was one of 2,121 students who grabbed their honours in various technological courses.

Her academic journey proved remarkable not only for balancing her burgeoning film career with rigorous studies, but also for the significant mark she left on campus life.
“This journey has been both challenging and rewarding,” Sangou told Bissanews.com after the ceremony. “Pursuing computer science while engaged in other activities required discipline and sacrifice, but I wanted to prove that you can follow multiple dreams at once.”
During her time at the university, Sangou distinguished herself beyond the classroom. At level 200, she was recognised as the overall Best Student Influencer and Best Sportswoman.
She served as Welfare Deputy Chair at level 300, before becoming Deputy Speaker for the Students’ Representative Council General Assembly at level 400 – achievements that cemented her legacy within the institution.

Her decision to study Information Technology reflects a growing trend amongst young Ghanaian creatives who are embracing technology as a tool for storytelling and career development.
“The intersection of technology and entertainment is where the future lies,” Sangou explained.
“I believe my IT background will open new doors in digital media, animation and content creation.”
Amid the struggle of the Bissa movie industry in Ghana, Sangou has built significant recognition through her authentic portrayals and dedication to representing her cultural heritage, with a large TikTok following.

The remarkable highlight of the day was seeing her mother travel from Kulungugu to witness the milestone, as family and friends gathered to celebrate her academic feat.
The 35th graduation ceremony, held at the university’s main campus, saw hundreds of students receive their degrees across various disciplines.
Sangou stood out not only for her celebrity status but also for her commitment to education in a field traditionally underrepresented by women in the entertainment industry.

Ghana Communication Technology University, formerly known as Ghana Telecom University College, was founded in 2005 and has grown from 350 students to approximately 7,000 by 2017. The institution specialises in Computing, Engineering and Information and Communications Technologies, with its main campus in Tesano, Accra, and satellite campuses across Ghana.
